Jack-o'-lantern 2013

Carved this guy out yesterday. I’d just started when my knife slipped, leaving that huge gash going down from the left eye. Rather than moving to the other side, I decided I’d try turning it into a scar and working the rest of the features around it. It won't be winning any prizes, but a pretty decent save, I'd say.

..., but why start breaking with tradition now? Happy St. Jack-'o-lantern's day, everyone!



Another completely unremarkable Jack-o'-lantern stares into the distance, pondering the nearby stack of dated audio visual equipment.



Still churning out pies from that leftover pumpkin flesh. This year I finally got around to picking up a couple of proper pie dishes just before Halloween. No more making do with cake tins or lasagne dishes.

The day after Halloween I found myself in a supermarket clearing their Halloween decorations for half price; I knew what I had to do. And having bought them, I couldn't just let them sitting around until next year, so I ended up putting them up around the house and leaving them there for a week or so.

That's nothing though - the two Halloween candy dispensers on top of the shelves have been hanging around since 2007; The candy inside has seen better days.

It's 18 days since Halloween and that can only mean one thing: bad photos of a totally unremarkable Jack-o'-lantern I made almost a month ago.

How Not to Photograph a Jack O' Lantern

While we're still on the subject of jack o' lanterns, here's a selection of my botched attempts to take a decent photograph of one two years ago. I was making do with a crappy Vivitar camera at the time, which was always terrible in low light situations. When I couldn't take a decent shot with that, I resorted to the camera in my mobile phone. Why do you need to know any of this information? I have no idea. :D

Jack-O'-Lantern Time

It's that time of year again, or at least it was a few days ago. Here's my latest attempt at pumpkin carving. I was sort of making the design up as I went along and you can really tell. :D Hope everyone had a fun Halloween!

Check me out! It's the Jack O' Lantern I carved out this year. It's nothing too special, naturally, but it does remind me of John McCain from a certain angle. Or maybe I'm just going mad. :)

I hope you had a good Halloween. Me, I watched Blair Witch 2: Book of Shadows, which actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and Oldboy, which was awesome.
